One again we are delighted that famed Margaret River luthier Scott Wise has donated one of his gorgeous hand-made acoustic guitars as a raffle prize. Tickets will be on sale over the weekend. Make sure you are in with a chance to win one of these treasured guitars. In building this year's guitar, Scott Wise has returned to the real Australian design he used on the first Fairbridge guitars. With Western Australian Jarrah salvaged from Fremantle wool stores in 1982, Wandoo from Kojonup, Queensland Bunya and Maple this guitar is a very Australian creation. The choice of woods is not just patriotic. Scott has been using Jarrah, Wandoo and Queensland Maple for twenty years, finding them to be equal to many of the traditional European or American woods. Over the last two years he has found Australian Bunya, first used by hi - tech guitar designer Brad Clark, to be a fantastic tonewood for guitar tops. The tone is loud and complex with a great midrange warmth. Combined with the Jarrah back and sides it produces a dark, full bodied sound. The 2006 Fairbridge guitar is something quite rare
and special. It is the only guitar ever built in this combination of woods
and has a uniquely Australian sound and appearance.
