Our organisation
On 1 November 2011 the incorporated name of our organisation changed to from Fairbridge Festival Inc to FolkWorld Inc.
FolkWorld Inc is a member based, not-for-profit organisation. In general the membership is comprised of individuals who have a common love of acoustic music, dance, culture and festivals. The Board of Management provides strategic stewardship of FolkWorld Inc and its associated events.
Our objectives and values
FolkWorld Inc is dedicated to promoting traditional, contemporary and multi-cultural folk music, dance and related arts with particular emphasis on the involvement of families.
We achieve this by:
- holding the festival at Fairbridge Village, an enclosed bush land site away from through-traffic
- providing musicians, dancers and storytellers with an opportunity to perform, and to interact and collaborate with one another
- providing a rich and diverse program of artists of the highest standard from seasoned professionals to new and emerging talent
- running workshops to pass on skills
- charging a reasonable price, including a choice of discounted family tickets
- providing a stimulating cultural experience to all participants and visitors
- encouraging the view that Western Australia is an interesting and culturally rewarding tourist destination
- providing space for local crafts people to display and sell their wares and
- holding additional events as determined by the association.
