Five Point Turn formed when two acoustic husband-and-wife duos discovered a mutual love of acoustic music played the old-time string band way. Adding veteran perth bassist Bob Thomson to provide the bottom end, the quintet picked out a swag of favourite songs from some much admired songwriters including Tim O'Brien, Karine Polwart, Chris Smither and Bob Dylan, along with a few well-honed originals (like the ones you can hear above). Their first major gig was on the main stage of Canberra's National Folk Festival in April 2007, playing live-to-air on national ABC radio with no sound check and no safety net! They survived this baptism of fire and have gone on to wow audiences at favourite WA concert and festival venues.
